Authentic to the historic Tyne House brick factory, the neighbourhood, creating a place that boasts several new venues to bring in the locals and genuine voice to Australian design that speaks to the easy-going aesthetic favoured in the 1970s.
Ace Hotel, Sydney
Located on Wentworth Avenue and rising 18 stories, the Ace Hotel Sydney includes a lobby bar, ground-floor restaurant and laneway cafe, as well as a rooftop restaurant and bar. The hotel’s 264 guest rooms have been designed by to feel cosy and residential—with custom lighting; furniture and fixtures throughout.
Furniture by Design, Custom Lounge Seat and Cushions
Furniture by Design worked with the hotel’s lead interior design partner, Flack Studio and Marques Interior Services to develop the design concepts for the built in seating, and assist in the curation of the bespoke furniture solution for the project. 100% Australian designed and manufactured all of Furniture by Design’s products are manufactured from a holistic and sustainable perspective — each piece reconciles ecological and social impacts within the current economic climate. Built on the belief of traditional craft combined with innovative technology, Furniture by Design’s focus is on delivering a range that is thoughtfully crafted with minimum waste.
Furniture by Design collaborated with the team to create a specific collection for the hotel that worked seamlessly with the sourced range of second hand pieces aligning to the design vision of evoking the feeling of a share house and all of the personalities who would live there.

Contrasting and blending layers of natural materials and textures, custom designed furniture by the Furniture by Design team, lighting, and playful contemporary art, Flack Studio’s work for Ace Hotel Sydney lays down a strong new marker for Australian design today.
